5 Men-Approved Nontoxic Products

June 16, 2017

As a true beauty fanatic, I enjoy continually trying new products until I find the ones that work just right for me. My husband? Not so much. It has been a long road to find ones that are effective, do not cause skin irritation, and are not exorbitantly expensive (I mean we all want a good deodorant, but I just can’t justify spending $40 a pop!). After patiently experimenting with a variety of cleanly-formulated alternatives to his usuals, he found some winners. Just in time for Father’s Day, here are the hubby’s top 5 picks for natural men’s products.

1. Innersense I Create Hold Styling Gel

The key ingredients in this gel are honey, rice + amino acids, aloe, and rooibos tea, which help to add hold, shine, and strength to the hair. This is the only product hubby uses to style his hair every day. He loves that it creates strong all-day hold without any flakiness or buildup forming in the hair over time.

2. Ursa Major Fortifying Face Balm

The texture of this face balm is very lightweight and the product soaks into skin quickly. It effectively combats dry skin without leaving a greasy finish. It also smells wonderful for either men or women, as it is scented with lavender, lime, spearmint and rosemary. This contains high quality natural ingredients, such as aloe, sunflower, willow bark extract, carrot, birch, and olive, to offer anti-aging, calming, antiseptic, and nourishing properties.

3. Every Man Jack Shave Gel

This has been one of the most difficult items to replace, as most natural shave creams have too little foaming action or are extremely thick and clog the razor. This is definitely the best alternative to conventional ones we have found. The gel dispenses easily and does not dissipate quickly. It is free of parabens, phthalates, dyes, sodium lauryl sulfate, and artificial fragrance.

4. Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator

This is one of the only products my husband has ever ASKED me to buy for him. If you have never tried it, the scent alone will captivate you. It combines the best of woodsy, herbal, and sweet notes into one incredible bottle. This toner is a great way to add a bit of hydration and a midday or evening refresh to the skin. The formulation includes aloe-infused water to firm and improve hydration, antioxidants and fatty acids to soften the skin, and herbal ingredients to calm the skin.

5. Dr. Bronner’s Pure-Castile Soap Bar in ‘Peppermint’

While this isn’t anything fancy, it will always be my husband’s soap of choice for cleansing in the shower. It has very simple ingredients, cleanses well, does not irritate his skin, and smells great. Plus it is just flippin affordable. Less than 5 bucks? Done.

If you’ve found any natural men’s products that work well, please share with me!

What about a better spray deodorant? So hard to find a better one that actually works.

True there aren’t very many natural deodorant sprays on the market– most likely because in order to formulate a spray that is effective, a variety of chemicals have to be used. The best one hubby has found so far is Schmidt’s. But it comes in stick form.

My husband uses the Every Man Jack shave cream and I just bought the Ursa Major Face Wash for him. He will use whatever products I buy for him to do his daily manscaping, but he is a basics only guy. Trying to get him into some skincare, but not very successful so far! Great post!
